Water Features
Evenings that sound a little softer
A pondless waterfall, a fountain, a pond. Sized so you hear it from the seat, and matched to how hands-on you want to be.
Overview
How the space gets used
Water changes the yard. The sound, the light, the way it feels when you finally sit down. We design and install pondless waterfalls, garden fountains, bubbling boulders, streams, and koi ponds to match the mood you want and the maintenance you’ll actually do.
A pondless waterfall hides the water in an underground reservoir. You get sound and movement without a lot of standing water. Koi ponds and ecosystem ponds add plants and fish when you want a living water garden. Bubbling boulders and formal spillways work near a patio when you don’t have room for a large footprint.
Whether you want a fountain at the entry or a cascade through the plantings, we size the basin, the pump, the plumbing, auto-fill, lighting, and winterization using Aquascape training so the system runs quietly and you can get at it when something needs service.
Stone and planting are how we hide liners, vaults, and access points. You see water and rock. Two decades in the field means we plan for algae, debris, and how you’ll reach the equipment before we set the first boulder.
What we pay attention to
- Aquascape-certified design and installation, so the pump and basin are sized to run.
- Stonework that hides the mechanics and ages with the rest of the yard.
- We match the system to how much you want to fuss with it, from a low-touch pondless fall to a full pond.
How we work
From the first walk to the last
You’ll always know what happens next. We walk the property, make a plan, then build it.
- 01
Listen first
Formal, naturalistic, or quiet and small. Fish or no fish. We get clear on the mood and how much interaction you want before we draw anything.
- 02
Size the system
Basin, pump, plumbing path, lighting, and how you’ll winterize it. Those decisions happen up front, not after the stone is stacked.
- 03
Stone and planting
We hide the mechanics with stone and plants so the feature belongs in the landscape.

FAQ
Questions we hear a lot
Plain answers, so you can plan without guessing.
What’s the difference between a pond and a pondless waterfall? +
A pond holds water you can see, and it can support fish and plants. A pondless waterfall stores the water underground. You still get the sound, with little or no open water at grade, and usually less day-to-day fuss.
What is a bubbling boulder or fountain basin feature? +
A bubbling boulder is a drilled stone or stacked spill over a small reservoir. Compact, good near a walk or patio. Formal basins and spill bowls look more architectural. We size the pump so splash and refill fit how you live with it.
How much maintenance is involved? +
It depends. Pondless falls and fountains are usually lighter. Koi ponds need more seasonal attention. We’ll match the system to how hands-on you want to be and say so before you commit.
Can you retrofit a water feature into an existing patio? +
Often, yes. We look at the structure, power, drainage, and how to run plumbing without undermining the paving you already have.
